Project Description

Expansion of the Sacramento Zoo Giraffe Exhibit including construction of a new 3,300 sf CMU Giraffe Barn and a 2,000 sf wood framed Viewing Deck.  The Barn includes complete mechanical and electrical systems, large-animal taming systems, and specialized rubber flooring.  The Viewing Deck is raised five feet above ground to allow for hand-feeding of the giraffes.  The project was done in phases, as the exhibit was occupied throughout construction.  This community project was done with the help of many donors including contractors and community members.
